Premise: Upon the closure of OtterBooks, Oren bought a radio station from Aatheus Centauri. Mixed Signals chronicles the story of the real-life Shoutcast radio station, OtterTunes.

The central character is Oren Otter, who also appears in The Changing Workplace and Oren's Monastery.
Alyxander also plays a large role, though he has since reverted to human form and retired from the comics.
Mr. Ann Vole serves as the station's primary repairman, along with a small army of highly trained mice. Ann is also Oren's silent partner, paying the bills to keep the power on.
Xyie Fourseasons Part handyman, part interior decorator, Xyie helps to maintain the building.
Mare Libraria is a night mare who was originally sent to give Oren bad dreams about working too many jobs. Instead, she pitched in with the paperwork. She was consequently fired and hired by Oren as his secretary and receptionist.
the Whale was originally hired as a DJ, but has since become the advertising and news director.
Sniffy Q. Whiskers is an otter who speaks in unintelligible noises, due to the fact that he has no discernable mouth. He works as an unpaid intern and films a YouTube show called the Show and tell show along with Roberto North.
Saddy the Squirrel was also hired as a DJ, but could not be understood due to the fact that he speaks at 120 KPH. Instead, he was made equipment manager.
ChAoS oTtEr is second in command at the station and runs the night shift.
Sirajul and Mujabur are two DJ's from Pianostan.
Stinky Bob and Cute Pink Bunny are a married couple of DJ's, who sometimes bring their son Nicky to work with them.
The Imp, who is actually just a goblin, was once known for his love of all things evil. He has since abandoned evil and now hosts the Comedy hour.
Dr. Mellow is a late-night DJ with a deep, echoing hypnotic voice.
Rashad the Excitable is a hyperactive morning DJ who barely manages not to stumble over his own tongue.
Biff and Cliff are two college jocks who are taking broadcasting because they thought it would be easy to spend two periods talking into a microphone.
Fuzzybutt the Hamster is a DJ who also works as a talent scout.
Frank, an unseen villain who runs Frank's Discount Radio Station and frequently pirates the signal from OtterTunes.
