The Weird Warriors is a superhero team in the Intense Universe composed primarily of mutants.
The Weird Warriors began with Brad Whittaker, a telepath and telekinetic with a bionic arm. While attempting to evade the OverLords, a street gang who had been employed to hunt mutants, Bradley found a hyperspace conduit created by the Suzyahn which took him to the planet Gamma Epsilon. There, he met the Canises, who trained him in the arts of combat, survival, leadership and diplomacy. When Brad returned to earth, he related his adventures to his brother, Bobby. Brad had been inspired to create a team of superheroes in order to give freaks and mutants good publicity and make a change in the world for the better. Bobby agreed. Under the names Mentalis and Laser-Man, the two became the charter members of the Weird warriors.
The Weird Warriors were created by Oren Otter in the late 1980's as a sort of amalgam between the X-Men and the Misfits of Science.
The Weird Warriors were the first to use com-badges, long before they showed up in Star Trek. The com-badge is a global communicator designed by Hardware and Electronics Guru Pierre Natsu. The badges, along with relay stations and satellites, form a network which enables the wearers to remain in contact with all other Weird Warriors virtually anywhere in the world.
